Platt Bridge Community School and its Start Well Family Centre are bringing Christmas cheer to vulnerable children and families across Hindley, Hindley Green, Abram, Platt Bridge, Ashton & Bryn.
In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Christmas is going to be tougher than ever this year for those in need.
The team have worked to donate over 200 Food and Toy boxes this festive season in the hope that it will bring some joy to hundreds of vulnerable children across the locality.
Sue Darbyshire, Chief Executive at Community First Academy Trust, said: “This year we’ve experienced situations we never thought were possible. From a global pandemic to national lockdown. As adults we’ve found it hard to accept the events of 2020 and children have had to endure the same whirlwind that we have.
“Many of our families have struggled both mentally and financially with the fall out of the coronavirus pandemic and this will ultimately have an impact on how our Christmas will be shaped this year. We wanted to try and lessen the impact of the year for the children within our locality who need it most and we hope our Be a Secret Santa campaign will go some way to make Christmas easier for those who are going to find it hardest.”
Community First Academy Trust’s ‘Be a Secret Santa’ appeal has seen many examples of the community pulling together to support those most in need.
Each family will receive two boxes. Box 1will include a £20 Aldi Orange Voucher and festive food treats and Box 2 will include a gift box to include a mixture of age appropriate Christmas gifts for those families who need it most.
